Mono Ski Outriggers (Straight Style on Sale)

  • Sold as a pair (or individually upon request).

Straight Style Outriggers now on sale. Superlite Outriggers are  the most popular outriggers in the world. They are the outrigger of choice for Paralympians and adaptive sports programs alike. Used to assist in balancing, stopping, turning, and getting on and off the lift,  these outriggers will enhance your skiing experience. There's no skiing without them!

  • Superlite Outriggers come with a variety of choices because we feel it is important to accommodate a wide range of ability levels and unique customer needs. Below we provide some insight and general recommendations to help you with these choices.

    Color

    • Anodized Silver is our most popular color because it shows scratches the least.
    • Anodized Black and Red are also available. Blue and purple have been discontinued.
    • Desire something else? Outriggers can be custom powder coated other colors for $75. Specify in the notes box and we will contact you.

    Tube Style

    • The Standard bend occurs above the handle. The majority of our customers choose this style.
    • Straight outriggers are inspired by Peter Axelson. They allow the skier to reach out to help with carving for a more aggressive skiing style

    Grips

    • Ergonomic grips improve comfort and control by increasing support at the skier's palm. They are made of soft black rubber and are left and right specific.
    • Endurance grips are made of slightly firmer rubber. They are designed to reduce fatigue and improve control. They are not left and right specific which makes them a great choice for programs that have several pairs of outriggers.

    Flip

    • For competition flip, the ski tip flips down when the string is pulled. This allows for a faster, more fluid skiing style with less resistance on the snow. We recommend this style for intermediate and advanced mono skiers.
    • For standard flip, the ski tip flips up when the string is pulled. This allows for more stability when stopping or standing. This style is most appropriate for novice mono skiers.

    Tips

    • NEXGen ski tips are stronger and lighter. A tapered and rockered tail reduce “chatter” at speed while an open pin design reduces the chance of snow jamming. The ski angle can be adjusted up to 15 degrees lower. You can learn more about the NEXGen of Superlite Outriggers here.
    • Original tips are the Industry's number one selling ski tip and continue to be a popular choice for programs and individuals alike.  They're classics!

    Resistance

    • Ice Screws are designed to reduce resistance while skiing. We recommend these for intermediate and advanced skiers.
    • Brake Claws provide extra resistance and stability while skiing. They actively break during use which is helpful for those just beginning to ski. We recommend these for novice skiers.

  • Mono ski outrigger sizing tends to correlate with sit ski model more than a skier's height.  Wing span and ability level will affect length preferences, but these are our recommendations.

X and Y are two measurements we use for outrigger sizing.  X is the distance between the top of the cuff and the top of the grip.  Y is the distance between the top of the grip and the bottom of the ski tip.

Below shows how we measure X and Y. If you have been borrowing a pair of outriggers from an adaptive ski program and are ready for your own pair, you can measure them and compare with the chart above!

    X Measurement

Using a tape measure, measure from the top back surface of the hand grip to the top of the arm cuff. Measure along the bend of the outrigger.

The higher up on the forearm your cuff is, the greater the mechanical advantage for you. However if it is too high up, the cuff will bite into your upper arm when you lean over. While we only need to know the distance from the hand grip, one method for determining where the cuff should be is to measure the distance from your elbow. The distance from your elbow to the top of the cuff should roughly be:

    • 2" for 5'0" tall
    • 3" for 5'8" tall
    • 4" for 6'0" tall

This is only a guideline and your own comfort and usability will be the real final deciding factor. If your current outriggers are adjustable, try them at different heights.

    Y Measurement

Hold the flip ski bottom in a perpendicular position. Using a tape measure, hook the end to the bottom of the ski and measure to the top surface of the hand grip.

  • Z is the circumference of your forearm. It is used to provide the correct cuff size. Using a tape measure or string, measure your forearm at it's widest point.

  • Superlite Outriggers are covered under our Adaptive Skiing Equipment Warranty. Product manuals and resources can be found hereIf you do not see something you are looking for or have any questions please contact us!
